Some people genuinely need a reason to do good and there is no "learning" that can fix that for them. Additionally, just like there is no bad or stupid or silly reason to not kill yourself, there is no bad or stupid or silly reason to do good.

The issue exists solely when people are not actually doing good. Doing good to protect the children is a good thing, doing bad things and saying it is to protect the children and thus is good is a bad thing. Doing good to help the oppressed is a good thing, doing bad things and saying it is to help the oppressed and thus is good is a bad thing. Doing good because you believe you will be rewarded (in this or another life) is a good thing, doing bad things and saying it is because you will be rewarded is a bad thing.

Whatever the motivation or reason, at every scale of life from fandom arguments to religion, so long as you are actually doing good, then there is no problem with what are you doing or why you are doing it. The issue is not that some people are tying their reasons for doing good to social justice or celebrities or deities or whatever else, the issue is that some people cannot or refuse to recognize when they are doing a good thing because of that motivation and when they (or others) are doing a bad thing while using that motivation as a justification or cover.

If someone needs to say "being kind is punk" in order to get themselves to do good or to convince someone else to do good, that is not a problem. If someone says "being kind is punk, I'm punk, therefore everything I do is kind," that is a problem.
