The Chief Graphic Designer:
Gomez and Morticia Addams got divorced. I woke up mortified and with a sense of inexplicable dread.
you literally don’t need any other plot and i would watch the movie
Every 'normal' adult is fussing around Pugsley and Wednesday because "poor children that must be so hard for you to see mom and dad break up like this"
But the kid are absolutely unfazed, arguing that "it's alright they will be together again soon". The normie are so sad for the "children clinging to vain hopes" until Morticia and Gomez get married again two weeks after the divorce.
In the meantime Mama and Uncle Fester fight about which one of them will go to whose custody.
They pretend to argue in court and at meeting with lawyers over the splitting of the properties but that's mostly Gomez insisting to leave more and more thing to his wife in an angry voice.
At home they decided not to talk to each other so Lurch has to (begrudgingly) transmit messages from one to the other, even when they are sat on either side of the table.
That works (more or less) then Morticia says one word in french and Gomez run to cover her with kisses until Morticia remind him that they are spliting (that's the only moment he seems to regret the whole thing)
This. All of this.
Wednesday offers to help with split custody of Pugsley. her suggestion involved a big table saw
They fight over who gets to hire the expensive big-firm lawyer and who gets to hire the up-and-coming rookie divorce lawyer. It's a whole Thing.
The up and coming lawyer is Thing?
Thing wins the case
it's actually started because Thing just passed the bar exam and no one will hire Thing
Thing is dressed as elle woods

These are my kind of politics. Like, yes. You SHOULD speak to someone with respect in fear they could slap you in the face with a chair, but know that if you use active listening skills and again, are respectful, they won’t.

it really worries me that there is not really that much conversation about the EU chat control bill. maybe it's just me but where ever i search information on it i keep noticing low number of interaction on posts and videos - and that they are not frequently posted, sometimes days or weeks between - like are you guys seeing the news cover this in your countries?
this just feels like such a huge thing, and a lot of people's reaction is just nothing? even though the aim for the bill is good, it just seems like such a major security risk for every single eu citizen. what happened to fighting for privacy? it feels like eu and its citizens used to be very vocal about things related to it.
Good for this person. This is exactly what you do. Screw the job.
I had a job that made me work an all nighter, 30 hours straight, over Thanksgiving. I resigned that Monday and it was one of the most satisfying decisions I’ve ever made.
Part 3:
Please pay attention to all the manipulation tactics this boss uses, because they’re pulling out every trick in the book.
“I’m not your boss, I’m your friend”
“Other people will be hurt by this and it’s your fault and I’m going to tell them all that”
Mocking language
Jobs are important too
“Be a team player”
“We’re your family too”
Talking as if this is a thing you must do
“We all make sacrifices”
Undermining your authority
“You caused all of this, really”
Accusing you of being “unprofessional”
“Look at the money you cost us”
“Just laugh it off and come back to work”
This is like a 101 course in how employers use guilt trips to coerce you into putting up with their bullshit. This is precisely why you should never trust those employers who insist that they’re “like a family.” They are not. It’s just a ruse so that your boss can neg you into putting your job ahead of your actual life.
Also the big one: “Answer your phone” or “Call us” so that whatever happens isn’t documented in text.
Ever notice how men only bring up mental health and "the male loneliness epidemic" during pride month or when women are talking about feminism?
So 365 days in a year to complain about not getting pussy and you choose the one month celebrating a marginalized community to complain about a problem you caused?
paintings of ulysses and the sirens rated by how securely he is tied to the mast
Ulysses and the Sirens by John William Waterhouse
looks reasonably secure, he’s probably not going anywhere. waterhouse always comes through. 10/10
Ulysses and the Sirens by Herbert James Draper
you’ve allowed too much freedom of movement for his sexy arms!!! he’s aboutta BUST through the ropes and join the choir invisible!!! but i do love the crewmate to the left with the king-wrangling job. i bet that’s eurylochus. 6/10
Odysseus and the Sirens by Alexander Bruckmann
they’re pretending to ask for advice on building wooden horses, and when he jumps overboard to mansplain, that little wristlet is not gonna stop him. 0/10
Ulysses and Sirens by Pablo Picasso
this ulysses is forever trapped in flatland. he will not jump overboard. he knows there is no true escape with the sirens, not really. 7/10
Ulysses and the Sirens by Léon Belly
in 3 minutes this mans is going to be dragging behind the boat like a jet ski. 1/10, there must have been a thought process at least
Odysseus and the sirens (stamnos, Greek artifact in the British museum)
rope to naked flesh ratio is so funny here but you can’t listen to the forbidden song of the sirens if you ain’t cute <3 9/10
The Sirens and Ulysses by William Etty
i’m sorry, i hate this. what?
fish women want him for his thick ass. only ropes around here are the ones he pulls in the gym. 0/10
Ulysses and the Sirens by Marie-François Firmin-Girard
finally…. a socially distanced ulysses. you did it boys. can’t sink this bad boy. 100/10
OP you’re gonna love this one
hmmm i hate it. he looks way too excited. 8/10
Not to mention that just because WE moved forward doesn’t mean the men we were fighting against have done any footwork to better themselves. Women can do other jobs just fine, but the politics and bs we have to endure in a workspace run mostly by men just isn’t worth the mental strain when you’re the token woman that’s been specifically hired in whatever field lacking women.
It’s not because we CANT. It’s because we don’t care about your dick sizing contest to deal with your childish behavior while trying to just do our fucking jobs.
And that’s by design. They know exactly what they’re doing in order to keep the workspace free of women. So I guess we just have to wait for them to kill themselves off with incompetence before we can move in and pick up the pieces once again, because they are incapable of understanding the simplest concept of community.
on the validity of recognizing emotions
So this post is MANY years old but I was thinking of it today and want to thank @elodieunderglass for the single most helpful piece of actionable mental health advice I’ve ever gotten.
Also I’ve found that the nebulous cloud of unease abates if thanked for giving me vigilance and a signal that it’s time to stop and to go “Okay, what am I actually uneasy about, and what can I actually do about it?”, if that helps?
This is the first time I’ve seen it, and I think it will be very helpful for me in the future.
Thank you, @elodieunderglass.
you’re very welcome, and thank you for telling me! it’s always nice to hear, and never unwanted.
In the years after the US Environmental Protection Agency was founded, the agency dispatched photographers to document pollution and contami
Formaldehyde, brick dust, lead, and borax once made grocery shopping a minefield.
Shit used to be wild, and this is just what I could find that had decent sources, I've heard a lot more horror stories.
I'm not excited to live in a word without regulation. 🙃
"Regulations don't exist because governments enjoy them" is an important statement here. The government has to spend money and labor to enforce regulations. The government has to be begged for years and sometimes threatened by the American people into even creating the regulations. The people with the money want you to believe regulations are "BIG GOVERNMENT INFRINGING ON OUR FREEDOMS" so you'll help them undo the regulations your grandparents had to force that same government to install in the first fucking place. They count on you being ignorant of the past so they can make another round of dirty money by poisoning you all over again.
they probably cant love me back in a human or even mammalian sense, but my goldfish with their smooth pea-sized brain have learned to trust that i will make them better when they are sick. i feel like crying about this often
Maybe Princess the tarantula never had anything resembling what we as humans know as emotions, but she still came out of her burrow and up to the glass when we’d talk to her and used to stare at the drawing I’d tape to her terrarium. Maybe she couldn’t even comprehend what we were, but she knew we were there to take care of her. And even if she never showed that sort of curiosity or trust we’d still love her.
Idk if Munchie the praying mantis felt love for me, but I do know he trusted me enough to climb onto my hand when offered and was comfortable with allowing me to carry him places despite me being absolutely massive in comparison to him. So that's close enough in my book.
I genuinely don’t understand how I can go from one post talking about inclusion and then immediately slam into a post that’s shaming people for how they want to live in their own fucking homes.
IT’S NOT FUCKING MODERN
For one: it’s called Spartan Living and has been around since Sparta.
Some people don’t like a bunch of things collecting HELLA dust in their homes to have to clean. Some people find cluttered walls and spaces STRESSFUL!
Some people have to move frequently, and in this economy WHO THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW THAT OWNS THEIR OWN HOUSE?!
It’s ok if you LIKE a bunch of things, BUT IT IS ALSO OK IF YOU DON’T.
IT’S YOUR FUCKING HOME. IT’S OK TO BE THE MOST ECCENTRIC PIECE IN IT IF YOU WISH
Like my gods. Just let people LIVE please. We don’t have to model the same behavior that made us feel shame for being different.
“no crew, no help, just pure hustle” cut to this poor woman bawling her eyes out. what the fuck is wrong with people? why is this being framed as a good or impressive feat? this person makes below poverty wages already. Burger King meanwhile takes in $27 billion in global revenue every single year. everyone involved in making this woman endure this should be tortured and force fed chicken fries until their heart gives out. fuck this country.
