Regarding the mass reblog of 2024 election-related posts.
I'm a disabled, unemployed trans man living in a blue state right now, so I've understandably got a lot of anxiety surrounding the recent election results.
My philosophy in life surrounding horrible anxiety-inducing events is "hope for the best but prepare for the worst." Hence why I've been reblogging stuff to help keep people safe.
However.
That doesn't mean I'm going down without a fucking fight. I will keep living. I will keep being myself, even if it means that the fascist government in place wants me dead. I will die with a smug, spiteful little smile on my face knowing I went out without sacrificing who I am.
To the LGBTQIA2S+ people who might see this post: Don't give up hope. Don't let them force you back into the closet. Don't let that fucking cheeto scare you into hiding. There are people like myself and like you who survived the sociopolitical timeframe these fuckers wanna push us all back to. We will survive.
This isn't the end for us. Not by a fucking long shot.
You just gotta keep fighting - keep being who you really are. That's fight enough.
To those people who voted independent/third party in the US this year: Get the fuck away from me and get the fuck off my blog. Do not try to justify your vote to me. I had my issues with Kamala, yes, but I still voted for her, because I knew that if I didn't, I would practically be signing my own death warrant, as well as the death warrants of those I care about. One day, you will realize that your "moral high ground" against Kamala meant nothing in the face of the consequences of your vote.
Trying to stop one genocide doesn't make you antisemitic. Doing what little you can to help prevent future genocides doesn't make you morally bankrupt.
And finally, to those who voted for the cheeto: I hope you're happy with the hell you've brought upon on not just the US, but the rest of the world too. You cannot kill an idea, and you cannot suppress the true nature of humanity. Hope will always be found somewhere, and you can't fucking take that from me.
