Today I was victimised! This person - whom I believe to be mentally deranged, because they must be to have a different opinion to me! - said that he disagreed with my thesis that companies should employ more trans people than cis scum because he thought "there aren't that many trans people, so it'd be impossible to fill those kinds of positions, especially in medicine, emergency relief and services, if we employed maybe 15 people [guessing stats, as the purpose of this piece isn't the actual argument; don't judge] per 1000."

But you see, this man disagreed with me. Therefore I shall take from his right of Free Speech by implying that he has a mental illness, or make a joke of his thesis, thereby ensuring that his entire statement is removed of any seriousness or legitimacy.

As a serious note: patriarchal powers have used the "mental illness" or "comedy" lines to keep feminists down for centuries, and people still use this kind of "de-legitimising" discourse and logic to dismiss views that do not support their own.

It's clear to me that there are many sick people out there who make comments that sound like jokes, that can't POSSIBLY be jokes because it's on a topic that somewhat offends me. I think I have the right to deny this person any right to talk in any public capacity, and that we should send them death threats, simply because they told a "joke" once. Apparently they have this job called a "comedian" but that's a type of lizard!!!

Just Another Joke

The other day, my friend told me of a quest to find the funniest joke on the planet. Having giving me the directions, I went to various shops and collected plenty of food rations, extra bags, good climbing equipment, and enough money to bribe my way out of a Colombian prison (and buy some stuff for the remaining ride). The expedition was months of following a map from a man who, my cola-riddled brain began to realise, was insane. So as I neared the end I began to think, "Maybe the funniest joke is the joke on me." I had spent so much time, money and effort on this journey and the man was crazy. I guess the joke was on Mr and Mrs Rodriguez too. I still feel sorry for them, but the man told me to break them up. I didn't know which Mr and Mrs Rodriguez so I just burst into a few houses owned by these people.

So finally I reached the end, a derelict, ancient, cyclopean structure, cracked from the sight of several wars. The structure itself was of irregular architectural design and seemed structurally unstable but I went in anyway. Don't judge me - I'd come so far. So I got in and followed the labyrinth of traps, avoiding each, but ironically tripping and falling on the ground at the very end. The room was pitch black but had a breeze in it.

What was this joke I had found? What brilliant thing was so obscurely hidden? Was it also a truth, or an anti-joke, or a play on the human condition?

I don't know, and I never will. It was the friend who had told me of this joke: he shone a torch in my eyes and directed me into a room. It had only a mirror. He erupted in laughter.

The joke was me.

So that was a waste of a summer, and the previous summer, and the one before that etc. I wasn't mad, because having fallen for the exact same trick so many times, the joke of the world must be me and my sad life.
