Relationship/Chosen Family: I’m married. I have kids.
Fandom: I started out in the HP fandom back in 2001. (I am trans and no longer partake in it because of ‘you know who’.) I wrote my first fic in 2004, though prior to that I had been writing poetry and original short-stories. I’ve written fic in HP, SPN, Hikaru No Go, Death Note, PJO/HoO, MCGA, and BSD. I seldom write fic for fandoms unless I find something problematic about the canon. My muse thrives on fix-it fic.
Cosplay: I cosplay at conventions and sometimes just for the hell of it. My style of doing a con is incredibly low-key. I don’t participate in contests or panels. I prefer randomly walking around, talking to people, looking at the stuff for sale and generally people-watching.
Writing Support: Occasionally I will beta read for other people, but I don’t volunteer to do it often as my free time is short. I prefer Alpha reading - where a writer who has gotten stuck will bounce ideas off my brain. Then I’ll toss back at them all the associations my brain makes in response until something sparks the key they needed to get unstuck. I also love Cheer reading where I read your WiP fic and tell you the parts I like and the areas that are going well. Positive feedback motivates far more than criticism. (especially for new and hobby writers)
Other Fannish Things: Sometimes I mess around with art. Sometimes I record podfic. I enjoy making fanfic available for people who prefer audiobooks. (I need to finish my basement and get my audio foam back out of storage - probably another year or two.)
Shipping: I believe and promote the concept that all ships and kinks, preferences and squicks are valid, and that there is enough room in fandom for all of us to play. I am anti-hate. anti-shaming. These are fictional characters and what people want to do to them/with them in fanworks hurts nobody (and actually may be cathartic to the creator). Link ^^ to my views on this matter.
Communication Things: My ask box is always open. I’m an introvert who does enjoy socializing though too much drains me. When I go a long time without socializing, I tend to list back into agoraphobia. I do not want to lose myself to that ever again. So please, do poke me on occasion if we are familiar and you notice me going quiet for an extended period.
I love meeting new people, geeking out, and making new friends, talking about writing, head canons, actual canon (I am seriously a hell of a canon nerd. I study the shit out of canon for every fandom I write in as I tend to write canon-complementary/divergent fic). That said, I enjoy reading AU fic when other people write it.
