Radiation doesn't unilaterally mean "murdering you" radiation.

Heat, the visible spectrum of light, and radio waves are also forme radiation. The radiation you're thinking of is ionizing radiation. Beta, alpha, gamma, and x-rays.

They're probably close because the type of radiation they're dealing with is non-ionizing radiation and in this case specifically probably light and infrared

99% of computer repair is googling the problem to see if anyone else has successfully fixed it. I have a certification in computer repair and I was allowed AND EXPECTED to use google in my exam. 99% of bartending is pulling pints and adding coke to a spirit. I managed bars for 10 years and have a diploma in Cafe, Bar, and Restaurant Management. I think I can make like 7 cocktails from memory. I use google to find the recipes for the rest. I was working towards a paleontology degree. On the few digs I was involved in, everything was photographed and shared with experts who weren’t there to get their opinions. The real world doesn’t operate in exam conditions. Whatever career path you follow, you will be able to consult colleagues in some form or another. You’ll be allowed to use Google and Wikihow and industry specific forums and texts and websites. Exam conditions do not exist outside of exams.

my epistemology teacher often gave us many many texts and articles to read, and they were incredibly lenghty too. this wasnt uncommon for many other teachers in my course. but when it came to exams, he had a key difference.

he let us bring all of the texts and articles, printed or on our phones, and browse through them as we liked while doing the exams. his reasoning?

it didnt matter whether we were reading the texts and articles during the exam or during class or at our homes. we were reading them. either way, we would have that knowledge, sooner or later. and he knew he could not expect us to memorize so much text just for a single exam.

bringing books, printed materials, even looking things up on your phone or consulting your own notebooks even during exams should be the next logical step in changing how schools work (of course, the reform of education is a lenghty process that involves much more, i dont wish to reduce it to just this). it does not matter when you end up reading the material- you are reading it. you are learning. answering a question during class, when you have your notes and books to consult is virtually the same as answering a question during an exam.

but do you want to know the only reason schools keep pushing this whole bullshit “no no, youve got to MEMORIZE this, youve got to be able to repeat the entire lesson off the top of your head, and if not you dont TRULY know”? because of manufacturated competitivity. because of entrance exams that intend to make the experience of just trying to get a higher education an absolute hell. so to make up for it, schools try to prepare you for that. thats all this is.

and in turn, of course, it keeps the capitalist machines well fed and running, keeping enough people in minimum wage jobs, while a select few get to make diplomas thatll land them in better positions.

so yeah, it was never about morality or learning or any of that. its all about gatekeeping education. and honestly i just hope that we can change this all some day, involving, of course, destroying this dreaded beast of an economic system.
