Things that go through my mind in between sets… Was that 12 or 13 reps? Where’s the increment weight gone? Do I need a mid-set toilet break? What shall I have for breakfast? Has the pre-workout kicked in yet? Maybe I should have a bagel & a shake? Should I skip the increment weight & just go up the stack? Ah there’s the pre-workout. Notice how non of my thoughts involve anyone other than me or my workout. It’s easy to feel as though people are staring a you in the gym and ‘judging’ you. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗶𝗳 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝘂𝘁. Truth be told, we’re too wrapped up in our own workouts to notice what anyone else is doing … I bailed on two sets of squats yesterday morning (landing on my ass in the squat rack both times) and nobody battered an eye lid. So next time you go to the gym, forget about what is going on behind the eyes of others and embrace a little failure.
