âHonor Killingâ needs to leave our lexicon, itâs the same as ârevenge pornâ. It should be called what it is: religiously motivated femicide.
honour killing religiously motivated femicide
revenge porn image-based sexual abuse
child porn child sexual abuse imagery

Letâs stop using language that sanitises violence.

I'm looking for another way to name "cosmetic surgery".
You don't need to add "sexual" in front of sadism btw, sadism is about sex by definition.
And "honor killings" are not really religiously motivated. It's about the family's reputation and men thinking they own women's bodies. Until she's married, they think her body belongs to them. Them being her father, uncle, brothers, cousins etc. If they suspect that her body is not under their control anymore, they destroy it. They think like pimps.
cosmetic surgery = body shaming surgery
"Honour killings are not religiously motivated"
Can we try a bit harder, please? Thinking caps on.
Can you explain your position better instead of being condescending because their explanation makes plenty of sense to me.
'reasons' for honour killings.
Renouncing faith, homosexuality, socialising with men, adopting behaviours outside of the religion, sex outside of marriage, being in a relationship with someone of the wrong religion.
Non religious reasons: being a victim of sexual assault, refusing an arranged marriage. These can arguably be connected back to religion.
Many will say that these are cultural reasons, but it's our job to be critical, challenge, and utilising information already established within radical feminism. Its not my postion. Radical feminism is critical of religion, and honour killings sit in that category.
Thanks for explaining. The thing I've experienced is that Christian and Muslim women who are faithful are told that they aren't even allowed to be included in radical feminism (for some reason cults like zionism get a pass). I get being critical of religion but to me it just seems obvious it's the same kind of power dynamic that has resulted in a woman being murdered by a family member every 10 minutes in the US. The details are "religious" but the subordination of girls and women is the same.
Agreed. Males are divided by boarders, religion, race, class, education, everything, but united by oppressing women.
