why can rockstar games institutionalise you for life like nikita kruschev for being autistic
He didn't steal 10 million dollars. They made that number up as a loss, they never fucking had it. Rockstar has spent more than a billion fucking dollars on GTA VI and will likely make billions more when it gets released.
Uber is a fucking shell game of a company designed to leech investor capital and output bootleg cabs.
Nvidia posted a profit in 2023 of $4.37 billion. This is like someone stealing less than a penny from me.
And they lock this kid in a prison hospital for LIFE?
Capitalism is disgusting.
Nobody should buy GTA til they free Arion Kurtaj
What with GTA VI going up for pre-order i'd just like to remind everyone that rockstar conspired with the UK government to lock an 18-year-old away for life for hacking them.
the symptoms of npd are discussed in only how other people perceive them, but only when they already decided that the person experiencing those symptoms is a narcissist.
the symptom "needs control in uncomfortable situations to feel safe" is in a *lot* of mental illness, but when it appears in npd? it's described as a desire to dominate others for the sake of their evil superiority complex.
needing constant reassurance from others is a symptom of a lot of mental illness too, anxiety disorders as a big one, but in npd it's described as manipulating people into being nice to them to feed their ego.
even just *masking* their mental illness is seen as a plot in the narcissist's evil plan.
all of these symptoms are seen as neutral as a baseline, until you decide a person experiencing these has a "bad" mental illness instead of something that's been watered down and quirkified. like autism, which npd shares a lot of similar traits with
it seems to a lot of people, npd is what you get when you're a *bad* autistic person.

Pride sharks! Happy pride month :D more super cute pride flags themed sharks coming soon š
Shame
Gonna step outside my usual programming a bit because that light pollution take and a lot of the responses to it aggravated me so much.
No, wanting to see the night sky isn't a twee retvrn to ghibli-ass take. It's not a matter of some anprim impulse to dismantle industrial society for ~nature aesthetics~, it's an extremely visible symptom of environmental degradation that gets downplayed because the externality seems trivial to most people: "Oh no, the night sky, what ever will we do without it."
But it actively disrupts light-sensitive circadian rhythms in plants and wildlife, which disrupts foraging patterns, reproductive and hibernation cycles, and contributes to wildlife population declines. It's not the major contributor to those declines, but it's an additional point of stress in an ecosystem already stressed by climate change and other forms of industrial pollution. And so much of it is wholly unnecessary.
I don't think people realize how far-reaching the problem is, either. That light isn't just confined to the places people use. You don't escape it by just taking the bus to the edge of town. That light carries, in some cases for hundreds of kilometers. Death Valley has some of the darkest skies in the US, and yet, the dome of light above Las Vegas is visible on the horizon over 250 km away! Anywhere within 50 km of a major urban center, just about anywhere in the world, never gets darker than a night under a full moon.
And this is very much a recent problem too. Before the switchover to LEDs, it was relatively expensive to light places. That meant actually accounting for the energy use and making sure it was being used where it was needed. That light was also warm-colored, so it didn't travel as far. With the decreased cost of lighting, it became standard to light places like daytime whenever they might be needed. Lighting didn't get safer, it just got more thoughtless.
The reason you see astronomy-types sounding the alarm most loudly is because they're the ones who have been seeing the full effects of light pollution and its encroachment on dark skies. It's a hobby for me too, but it's partly because I am a night owl who grew up in a small town with nothing else to do. I used to be able to clearly see the Milky Way horizon to horizon when I grew up in the mid-00s. The last time I visited about five years ago, I could only see it overhead. The population has fallen by like 10%, but the skies are brighter. I can tell when the college decided to leave the football stadium lights overnight. I can tell where the car dealerships that added overnight display lights are. I can even see when trucks with the fuckass LED light bars are coming over a hill from 5 km away.
I'm all for well-lit, safe, and accessible spaces for people to work and play at night. But there is an impact from lighting, and it can and should be regulated like any other point source pollution. It's a pretty straightforward and materialist assessment. But go off about the big scary anprims are coming for your society so people can see the stars I guess, that's not at all a reactionary response to hearing about a problem
#also a lot of the time the solution to light pollution is so stupidly easy it should be a no brainer to do it#like using more directional shades on streetlights#or different color lights instead of bright white#like#you do not actually have to live in the dark all the time to mitigate this problem!!#this is easier than fixing the ozone and we did that!
Okay, but that's an important point! Don't leave the important point in tags!
did tumblr delete my post
yeah, they did. I wrote up a big long post about the Trevor Project and the 12 hour charity livestream I'm participating in right now, and they deleted it. twice. We've raised over $50,000 for a legitimate charity but because it helps trans kids it gets deleted from the site
please share this if you can. so many amazing people have come together to make this happen.
if I make these links clickable they'll get deleted so please copy and paste them:

This pride month I need every aromantic to get more annoying about being aromantic
love the gold plating and the way the disk looks like feathered wings kinda reminds me of the DiaDhank that the duelists used in ancient egypt in the dm anime
Okay but is it just me, or does the concept of a Duel Monster spirit using a Duel Disk to summon OTHER Duel Monsters feel so fucking PARADOXICAL?
Better question: Do they still NEED duel disks if the creatures they're summoning actually exist in this world?
I had a similar thought during the virtual world arc of the DM series: They were in virtual reality already, so why did they still need duel disks to protect holograms?
Yeah, exactly! If this is where duel monsters are always being summoned from, then why do then NEED to be summoned? Hell, it feels like this should make the normal mechanics for summoning impossible.
But yeah, why is Rock Spirit not simply commanding other monsters as his underlings?
Like at least with the Virtual World arcs, those were at least meant to be video games played by duelists so it sort of makes sense why that might still exist mechanically.
But here?
Iām wondering if itās not so much as the hologram as the āarm tableā use. They still need a place to put the cards so even if the hologram isnāt working/useful then they can still use the duel disk for the card placement, if that makes sense. Like they can summon the real monsters just by picking up the card and showing it. But in a duel they still need to keep track of monsters they have and havenāt used and where their trap and spell cards are. Or they didnāt care to get rid of the duel disks? Iām guessing here š³
One thing that I find comforting about the (early) X-Files is that Dana Scully is allowed to exist as a single woman in her late 20s to mid 30s without being constantly being told by others she should meet someone, that the clock is ticking... it happens sometimes but on the average episode, you get no such comment. Scully's singlehood is not portrayed as a tragedy, nor does SHE feel like it's a tragedy. It's not something you see her stress over regularly and I find that refreshing.
Her date in episode 5 (Jersey devil) is so interesting. Her friend does give her one of those rare comments ("you need to get yourself a man") and she goes on a date with one of the dads from the birthday party, but even then, it doesn't feel too much like she was coerced - it looks to me like she saw the man and thought "why not?" She dresses up for and prioritizes their date. Ultimately, he's not her type so when he calls to take her out again, she puts an end to things. "No interest at this time." (And goes to the museum with Mulder). And she's moving on. That is all. She's still herself, we don't see her questioning that choice and agonizing over it. Absolutely loved that for her.
I think that, in other shows, an event like that could trigger a character's to spiral and question themselves and their worth. And maybe she does - off camera. After all, the X-Files was definitely a show that didn't want to be too romantic so lack of attention on Mulder and Scully's romantic lives is a byproduct of that.
Mulder also doesn't get hassled much about his love life. As far as we know, he's not dating, but he's also not bitter about that at all. I think it would be easy to make a character like him bitter and for him to resent woman over not getting laid, but that is not Mulder. Sure he has his magazines and his porn, but I don't think we ever see him being a dick to woman in a possibly romantic context (and even in general) - I see him as mostly a gentleman the whole way through. I bet if you asked him why he's single, he'd be super self aware too.
I'm a shipper so I do see Mulder and Scully together ultimately. Maybe Mulder and Scully don't feel a need to date because they are fulfilled with each other's presence. I'm also okay with the Ed Jerse and the vampire girl existing and Mulder and Scullg getting laid when they do.
But the fact that their lack of partners is not a big deal on the show and to them is really nice. I'm a single woman in my late 20s whose love life is not a top priority and sometimes seeing characters being repeatedly beat over the head about being single (and beating themselves up about it) does get really old
I also enjoy video of this manās dead wife
The glare from the sun occasionally obscuring her face does kinda make me think that the viewer is struggling to remember her
The immediate cut to the most dead wife video ever took me out lmao
Binary folks: What's the non-binary equivalent for yaoi/yuri? yaori?
Me: We have trixic (enby/women), toric (enby/men), enbian (enby/enby), and diamoric (enby/anyone). Please don't use yaori to refer to diamoric ships as it is not a word that came from the QL scene like yaoi and yuri did and was made up by people who don't know anything about QL and is just butchering a language.
Binary folks: Um AcTuAlLy [insert whatever bs excuse to not use non-binary centric terms for nonbinary ships]
Why do people have such an issue with non-binary terminology? We have our own words USE THEM!!!
this is exorsexism
I love fandom!teal-colored Adrian.
I also love "accidentally Adrian is colored green just like the planet which makes the naming of both even cuter in retrospect".
But imagine Andy Weir does write that sequel and Adrian turns out to be some shade(s) of yellow. Movie!Grace's signature color.
Eridians can't see color but something about Rocky forming important bonds with TWO people linked to the color yellow without even being able to register it is just a very *waves hands* thought to me.
What if Adrian is the shape and texture of a dorito but really big?
thinking about Stratt making the call to a pharmaceutical company to make heroin for Ilyukhina
I just assumed she bought it. Never considered that she had it made, though that's probably the best way to keep it clean.
Grace arriving on Erid: "So I know i'm an alien and your scientists are probably like super curious about me, I just want to say you can totally do minor, noninvasive experements on me provided you run them by me first. You can totally take like hair and nail and blood samples, i'm willing to run a maze of two, everyone's been super polite in not asking for anything but I promise im not offended. Are you sure you don't want a blood sample? I swear i'm fine with it, want to scan my eyes and brain activity while I look at different colors? Heck pretty much anything short of flat out vivisection is on the table for discussion here. Please experement on me I really want to know what you find out."
The Eridian Governments: wtf WTF wtF???
The Eridian Scientists: *celebrating like they've won the intersteller lottery*
THREE MONTHS LATER
Grace, showing the beginning signs of appendicitis and clutching a bottle of local anesthetic: "Soooo, about what I said before about vivisection being off the table. . ."
