It's all been leading to this. Apologies upfront, I'm going to preface my "review" with some sentimentality and verbose, superlative rambling. As everyone keeps saying, IT'S BEEN 10 YEARS! I was 11 when Iron Man came out. Now, I'm a film graduate, half-way through my MA. I've been through four stages of education, had first kisses, relationships, my heart broken, made friends, lost friends. I've literally grown up from a child, to a teenager, to an adult and throughout it all, the MCU has been a constant. A reliable distraction and source of joy. An obsession that has provided memorable
Less a review, more me talking about my experience with the MCU and how this movie affected me.
"Disclaimer, this is about to get romantic as F." I must confess something... I've never watched a LGBT+ film. Well, not like this one. I know, I'm a bad film gay! Revoke my license! But if you haven't gathered from my profile, I'm pop culture trash and LGBT+ films have remained indie until now. I mean, that's no excuse but hear me out. Love, Simon is the first major studio film to focus on a gay teen romance. I didn't even realise that - thanks Wikipedia! So, obviously, I'm not the only one who will be seeing this kind of
Rather than a review, I came out (on Letterboxd) & talked about how I relate to the movie.

Killmonger was right.
It's not often a trilogy gets better with every instalment and concludes decently. Not many people seem to like the Maze Runner series. Audiences are tired of Young Adult dystopian fiction adaptations, drained after the depressing drawn-out two-part finale of the Hunger Games (actually one of my favourite franchises) and put off by the likes of Divergent, which failed so spectacularly it never got its televised finale. The trend is over - even though it's more relevant than ever. Ah well, at least The Death Cure is an explosive end. To think I fell asleep the first time I watched
Is it the best in the trilogy?

he was on TATOOINE you fucking loser
Obi-Wan can find an invisible planet hidden by a devious Sith Lord, Anakin can’t find his ex-best friend on his own home planet while the guy is still using his own damn name.
I know we give Obi-wan a lot of shit for leaving Luke with his real surname but Anakin really is that stupid
the perfect hiding place: the sandiest fucking planet that anakin would never set foot on again
I’d like to remind everyone again that it’s literally canon that Vader can’t step foot on Tatooine because the desert gets into his creaky old man robot joints and makes his suit break down
aka the sand is coarse, rough, irritating, and gets everywhere
i d o n t l i k e s a n d
okay but what if everyone was like ‘vader, kenobi’s on tattooine. he’s obviously on tattooine. he’s been there for years. he’s just right fucking there, we all know it.’ and vader is just desperately shaking down jedi like they’re magic eight-balls and he wants a better fortune. like ‘no i don’t like that try again’.
kenobi’s just sitting there in his pile of sand like a smug fucking bastard. he doesn’t need to hide jack shit. he went to the tattooine board of tourism and got them to print up flyers that say ‘COME TO TATTOOINE, WE HAVE SAND’ and luke is probably going to be safe until his midlife fucking crisis at this rate.
palpatine finds vader aimlessly checking behind pieces of furniture in some shitty space motel on kamino
‘he’s on tattooine,’ palpatine says.
‘nuh uh,’ vader says, and peers under a couch.
“You can’t prove that!” he says
@kunoichi-ume
I can see him posing on his sand like this going “this is definitely keep him away.”
The problem with betraying your closest friends Anakin, is thay they know your every weakness and if you fuck up hard enough (like murdering younglings) they will not hesitate to take advantage of that knowledge. That’s how your son ends up on Tatooine.

It's taken all day but here's all 4,000 words of my Justice League review & why I'm not #ALLIN. Joss Whedon is an adulterer & fake feminist who ruined Zack Snyder's consistent vision for the DCEU & objectified Wonder Woman. Read for more.
