I rly hate the fact that Hama and Jet's story ended the way they did but Iroh is making Boba tea in the city he sieged:/

In my head Hama is back in swt with Kanna and HEALING mentally (maybe using bloodbending to cure diseases or like help people with frostbite or permafrost idk I'm not a med student), Jet is running around the world helping refugees (honestly I'm not too sure abt what I'd have Jet do bcs he's never been my favorite character even tho I like his character so feel free to recommend stuf) and Iroh isn't just idly making tea at Ba Sing Se, he's regent in the FN with Zuko as just acting Fire Lord BCS HE WAS 17 HE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN RULING JUST LIKE THAT. Now idk how well Iroh would do ruling the fn but I think it'd make an interesting arc to have him and Zuko having to tackle ruling together and they disagree more than they agree which results in real character development (you could add Azula here too bcs Zuko might go to her for advice at some point which Iroh doesn't like and later they all have to work together to a cause idk)

Anyway get me in the writers room dawg

Pretty sure Hama either spent her last days in prison and or was executed offscreen.

Jet was mentioned only twice after his death, one of which was a joke.

But sure, let's have Iroh running a peaceful teashop and leaving his supposedly super important and beloved nephew in charge of responsibilities he's nowhere near ready to tackle.

Not to be a bending purist or anything, but I feel like bloodbending is the purest form of bending from both an emotinal and technical point of view.

It was born out of survival, from the events that Hama of the Southern Water Tribe had to go through.

We can agree that bending, on some level, is a symbol to the benders psyche right. Whats more fundamental to the human experience than the will to live, and to live freely.

On the technical part, we all daydreamed about being benders ourselves right? I feel like (no matter how devided we are) its a common memory for all of us.

For me it always have been a sort of daydream that was notably similar to Hama's puppets. By that I mean, I was the puppeteer and the chosen element was the puppet. My fingers connected to the element by an invisable string.

In conclusion Hama is a very underappreciated and underused character who DESERVES better!

because the thing is that the painted lady persona that katara takes on is so she can help the villagers without her waterbending being given away. katara, who detests the fire nation for what they’ve done to her and her tribe, takes on the persona of a spirit to help a fire nation town that is being oppressed by the fire nation itself. the blue spirit is a persona that zuko takes on so he can do whatever he wants without being caught or held accountable. it isn’t born out of a strong sense of justice or compassion, and he never uses that persona to help others (except aang and appa) that are in need of help. katara’s painted lady shows you that her compassion and empathy win against any prejudice or hatred she might have, and if she sees someone in need she’ll set her prejudices aside to help them. it makes absolutely zero sense for these two to even interact in those forms, and even if they did, there’s no planet where katara’s painted lady has even an ounce of respect for zuko’s blue spirit. the painted lady in book 2 makes no sense as it is, and if it’s only there to set up some bullshit “parallel” between zuko and katara, you have to erase some of the most central traits katara has for it to even make sense.

If there is parallel to Katara’s painted lady persona it’s Aang Kuzon and how Aang brought joy to FN kids. They were still helping people in need even if they were from the enemy state. Zuko’s Blue Spirit is about selfish goals and he let’s go of him once he does smt unselfish aka freeing Appa.
