hey guys. so um, there’s been a large spike in asian hate crimes since the pandemic began, but if you weren’t aware, the other day, 3 massage parlors in atlanta, georgia were shot up and of the 8 people killed, 6 – fucking six – were asian american women. currently, 4 of the 6 people dead have been confirmed to be of korean descent by south korea’s foreign ministry. 

i am sick to my stomach by this. i understand that we are in a pandemic, in the midst of a medical crisis unseen in the US and on this large of an international scale since the AIDS crisis, or even the Spanish Flu, back in the 1920′s, but please. our elders are dying, our people are dying. in nyc, my fucking city, the uptick in asian hate crimes is noticeable, but what’s perhaps most heartbreaking of all is that these people are going after our elderly. elders are so important to asian communities, they are so important to us, and they hold positions of honor and importance within our culture and our homes. 

any and all deaths are fucking heartbreaking. these shootings in georgia are horrifying. we are all terrified; because it is so easy to imagine how we could be next. if these people are ok going after our elderly and our most vulnerable, what’s going to stop them? any of us could be next. the georgia shootings only served to drive that point home. 

the hashtag StopAsianHate is trending on twitter. please, boost, get the word out there, but most of all: have those rough discussions with the people you know and the people you love. we are not a fucking virus, no matter what the former POTUS said. no matter what he claimed. we don’t deserve to die because we were demonized for something that was never our fucking fault. if you can, donate to asian businesses, to asian folks with gofundmes or paypals or ko-fi’s. i will be reblogging as many as i can find - but if you know of one, send it my way so i can reblog it. 

but most of all: please stand with us. please help us, please help us stop the hate and the deaths and the beatings. stand with us and help us stop asian hate.
