NOT prerequisites to humanity
Things that I've seen said to be either -a universal human experience (it isn't) -Unique to humans (it's not) -absence of this implies you are inhuman (it doesn't) -some combination of the above
This is an incomplete list of things that AREN'T required to make you human. Feel free to add to it!
Feeling love/attraction (of ANY form) Caring about music in any meaningful way/at all A sense of ownership over land/objects etc The ability to wage war Being a member of the species Homo sapiens (Other members of the homo genus were also human) Being able to make and/or use tools Creating/using language Using/harnessing fire Sowing seeds (and cultivating crops) Making art Being able to see/speak/hear/walk/live independently etc Being able bodied/being disabled Not having a mental illness/having a mental illness Altering the environment to suit your needs better Being diurnal Wanting to travel/wanting to stay 'settled' Being straight/having a specific sexuality or romantic attraction Being cisgender/having (or not having) a specific gender identity Belonging to a certain religious group
Fuck it. I'm tired of seeing this stuff. There's no category of 'inhuman' person. I don't care if they're the worst/you hate them/can't relate at all/whatever. You don't have to like everyone but that does not deprive them of their personhood. I repeat: This is an incomplete list of things that AREN'T required to make you human. Feel free to add to it!
